Teams scramble to get in games ahead of hurricane,

- Staff And Wire Reports

Teams continue to scramble to get in games before Hurricane Irma arrives this weekend.

The Orlando Pride moved their NWSL game against the Seattle Reign from Saturday to tonight at 8 at Orlando City Stadium. It will be part of a soccer doubleheader with Orlando City B’s regularly scheduled game against Richmond.

Both Florida and FSU have moved up the start times of their home football openers to noon on Saturday. The Seminoles will host Louisiana-Monroe in Tallahassee, and the Gators will take on Northern Colorado in Gainesville.

Miami canceled its Saturday football game at Arkansas State. Despite Jonesboro, Ark., being hundreds of miles away from Irma, the Hurricanes were concerned about getting back to South Florida.

USF is on the road playing UConn in Harford. That football game will now start at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday to give the Bulls time to get back to Tampa before the worst of Irma arrives.

UCF’s football game against Memphis was moved from Saturday to Friday night at 6:30 p.m. That’s still the plan, despite the school announcing it was canceling classes on Thursday and Friday.

A day after the NFL said the Miami Dolphins and the Tampa Bay Bucs would not play their season opener in Miami on Sunday, the league announced the teams will play on Nov. 19. That means the Dolphins and the Bucs will have their bye in Week 1. Both teams will now play 16 consecutive weeks, starting in Week 2.
