- By Richard Tribou Staff Writer

Several cruise lines have either canceled or shortened sailings as Hurricane Irma threatens Florida.

Disney Cruise Line canceled the seven-night cruise on Disney Fantasy that was to depart Port Canaveral on Saturday and two planned cruises from Port Canaveral on Disney Dream slated to depart Friday and Monday.

In addition, the Disney Fantasy, currently on a western Caribbean sailing that departed Sept. 2, will return to Port Canaveral today, two days earlier than expected. Disney Dream, which departed Monday on a Bahamas cruise, will also return today, one day earlier than planned.

The cruise line is refunding passengers for the missed nights and offering 25 percent discounts for those on shortened cruises for a future booked cruise while giving full refunds for the canceled cruises as well as being offered the 25 percent discount for a future cruise.

Royal Caribbean has canceled three planned short cruises and decided to keep three of its big ships out at sea until after the storm passes.

Canceled are Friday’s Bahamas cruise from Port Canaveral on Majesty of the Seas, Friday’s Bahamas cruise from PortMiami on Enchantment of the Seas and Saturday’s Cuba cruise from PortMiami on Empress of the Seas. Full refunds and 25 percent discounts on future cruises are being offered.

Because Oasis of the Seas at Port Canaveral and Harmony of the Seas and Allure of the Seas at Port Everglades are being kept out at sea, those three ships planned seven-night sailings that would have departed this weekend but have been given new sailing dates and shortened itineraries. Partial refunds or the option to rebook are being offered. You can view details at http:// www.royalcaribbean.com/ beforeyouboard/ itineraryUpdates.do.

Norwegian Cruise Line has adjusted sailings for two of its ships.

The seven-night cruise planned for Norwegian Escape to leave Saturday from PortMiami has been canceled. The current sevennight cruise that departed Sept. 2 will return today, two days early. Guests who cannot safely leave the city before Friday will be allowed to remain on board as the ship will sail away from the path of the storm.

The three-night Bahamas cruise planned for Norwegian Sky from PortMiami to leave Friday has been canceled. The current four-day cruise to Cuba shortened one day to return today.

Shortened cruises will be refunded for the missed sailing days and offered 25 percent discounts on future cruises as well as airfare change fees up to $300 per person. Canceled cruises will get full refunds plus 50 percent discounts on future sailings.
