New Florida Hospital Apopka sets opening

The new Florida Hospital Apopka, which broke ground in 2015, is only a few months away from accepting its first patient with a scheduled December opening.

Located near the intersecti­on of state roads 429, 451 and 414, the facility is seven stories with 120 private patient rooms, a 50,000-square-foot emergency department and an 80,000-square-foot medical office building.

“We’re excited to offer a range of new services much closer to home for residents of Apopka and surroundin­g areas,” said Tim Cook, administra­tor of Florida Hospital Apopka.

The health system aims to keep up with population growth in west Orange County.

The hospital is planning to turn part of its old building into a healthy living space. The existing medical office building there will remain, with a focus on family medicine. its chain thrift store Out of the Closet, along with pharmacy and bloodtesti­ng services, according to which is owned by Orlando Sentinel Media Group.

The purchase boosts the nonprofit organizati­on’s presence in Central Florida. AHF recently opened its first full-service clinic in Orlando on Mills Ave., next to Orlando Immunology Center.
