Kowboys climb to No. 1 while still itching to play

Several teams in the Sentinel Super 16 high school football rankings dropped after suffering Week 3 losses.

Apopka’s 42-35 loss at Lakeland bumped the Blue Darters from the top spot and allowed Osceola to assume the No. 1 ranking even as the Kowboys had to cancel games last week and this week due to Hurricane Irma.

Winter Park moved up two spots to No. 7 following a 10-6 win in the final minute over then-No. 5 Wekiva.

Edgewater impressed in a 45-36 win over then-No. 16 Olympia while Oviedo got its first victory of the season with a 48-27 rivalry conquest against then-No. 12 Hagerty.

Week 3 game at Viera (2-0) was canceled.

Panthers set program record with 592 offensive yards in 44-24 win at West Orange (0-2).

Three TDs from Jecoryan Davis-Hamilton not enough for Blue Darters in 42-35 loss at Lakeland (2-0).

Game vs. Treasure Coast (1-1) canceled due to Hurricane Irma. Tigers scored 33 points in first quarter of 54-7 win at Colonial (0-3). Trip to Severn, Md., to face Archbishop Spalding (1-0) was wiped out by Irma.

Wildcats scored inside final minute to rally for 10-6 win vs. then-No. 5 Wekiva. Game at Lakeland Lake Gibson (0-1) was called off. Mustangs turned ball over four times in second half of 10-6 loss at Winter Park. Game vs. Jensen Beach (1-0) was postponed. Braves rushed for 366 yards and four touchdowns in 35-13 win at Ocoee (0-3).

Defense allowed just 132 total yards and no touchdowns in 17-7 win vs. East River (1-1).

Brett Haecker rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns in 35-28 win vs. Winter Haven (1-1).

Game vs. Palm Coast Matanzas (0-1) called off.

Rams gave up over 400 yards of offense to visiting Tallahasse­e Godby (3-0) in 33-14 loss.

Huskies trailed by 22 points at halftime of 48-27 rivalry loss at Oviedo (1-2).

Clermont East Ridge (2-1), Edgewater (2-1), Lyman (3-0), Groveland South Lake (3-0).
