DB Ramsey listed as questionable

JACKSONVILLE — Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey missed practice again Friday and is listed as questionable to play Tennessee on Sunday.

If Florida State alum Ramsey can’t play, the Jaguars are expected to start UCF alum A.J. Bouye (who returned to practice after missing two days with an illness) and Aaron Colvin in base defense situations. In five-defensive back personnel, Colvin would move inside to cover the slot receiver and Tyler Patmon would play outside.

Coach Doug Marrone said he does not have a rule about players who can’t practice still being active for the game so it’s possible Ramsey could be active.

“It’s always a concern when somebody doesn’t practice,” Marrone said. “We’ll see how it goes. A lot of factors come into it. Obviously, there will come a point when we have to make a decision.”

The Jaguars don’t have to make a decision on Ramsey until 90 minutes before kickoff.

Patmon did not play a defensive snap against Houston last week.

“I’ve been working both just to be ready for every situation — inside, outside, wherever,” Patmon said. “If anything happens, I’ll be ready. Practicing with the first-team defense definitely helped to see what Tennessee plans to run and feel out some of the routes and concepts.”

Strong safety Calvin Pryor (ankle), injured in Wednesday’s practice, was ruled out for the game. Pryor is in a boot and needed crutches to get around the locker room.

For the Titans, the Yulee Bulldozer is returning to Jacksonville.

Tennessee tailback Derrick Henry will play his second game at EverBank Field against the Jaguars. Last December he rushed only four times for 13 yards in a Titans loss.

“You’re always excited to go home and play against the hometown team,” Henry said via the Titans’ website. “It’s a team I grew up around and went to a couple of games when I was little.”

Henry rushed for a national high school record 12,124 yards and then a school-record 3,591 yards (42 touchdown carries) at Alabama. In 2015 he led the nation with 2,219 yards and won the Heisman Trophy.

A second-round pick by the Titans last year, the 23-year-old Henry has been forced to bide his time working behind DeMarco Murray. Henry rushed 110 times last year (high of 16) for 490 yards (high of 65). Last week against Oakland, Murray rushed six times for 25 yards.

Henry, though, is expected to see an increased role this year because of the coaching staff’s growing confidence in him.

“Physically, he is much better,” Titans coach Mike Mularkey said. “He was in great shape last year, but you can tell he spent a lot of time working on his body and conditioning.”

Said tight end Delanie Walker: “Derrick came in leaner, faster and stronger. I’m excited every time he’s in the backfield running the ball.”

Walker said Henry has handled his supporting role with professionalism.

“I was in the same situation and you have to sit back and wait your turn, but it’s hard when you want to be out there and giving all you’ve got to help the team win,” Walker said. “I know Derrick wants to do that. When he gets the opportunity, I’m pretty sure he’s going to take advantage of it.”
