Frost enjoys rare time with family

- Chris Hays

UCF coach Scott Frost had another weekend off while teams around the country continued their normal routine of playing games on Saturday. Frost, however, didn’t spend his off-day glued to the TV watching games all day.

“I took my wife to [Halloween] Horror Nights at Universal,” Frost said. “We don’t get time off like that very often. Certainly unfortunate circumstances that we weren’t able to stay on a regular routine, but any chance our coaching staff gets to get out of here, we need to spend more time with family.”

Frost said it was his first experience with Halloween Horror Nights.

“It was great. They had, I think, nine haunted houses and I got to ride the roller coaster. … Things I don’t usually get to do in the fall,” Frost said. “It was a pleasant night.”

UCF offensive lineman Tyler Hudanick, who missed the final five games of last season due to a knee injury, is still not quite ready to return from offseason surgery.

“Tyler is coming along. The sooner he’s out there, the happier I’ll be,” Frost said. “He’s getting a little bit better every day. We’re still not sure when it’s going to be. Might be sooner, might be later.

“He doesn’t need time off right now. He needs reps. He needs to get comfortable with his leg. He needs to be explosive. He needs to kind of shake a lot of rust off. He was out there today and doing some good things and I think we’re going to have him back before too long.”

Next game: UCF at Maryland, Saturday, 3 p.m., Fox Sports 1
