Where to drop off Puerto Rico donations

- By Jennifer A. Marcial Ocasio

Central Florida is coming together to help Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria.

Community organizations are collecting donations after Maria devastated the island, leaving 100 percent of residents without power and unable to communicate with loved ones elsewhere.

Organizers are asking Central Floridians who want to help to donate money, time and supplies.

“If you cannot donate money, buy five packs of batteries, which are invaluable right now,” said Jimmy Vélez Torres, a community organizer who leads the nonprofit Puerto Rican Action Initiative.
