Hernandez had severe CTE signs

-

Tests conducted on the brain of former Patriots tight end

showed severe signs of the degenerative brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy, and his attorney said Thursday that the player’s daughter is suing the NFL and the Patriots for leading Hernandez to believe the sport was safe.

“We’re told it was the most severe case they had ever seen for someone of Aaron’s age,” attorney

said.

Dr. the director of the CTE Center at Boston University, concluded that Hernandez had stage three of the disease as well as early brain atrophy and large perforations in a central membrane.

CTE can be caused by repeated head trauma and leads to symptoms such as violent mood swings, depression and other cognitive difficulties. Hernandez killed himself in April in the jail cell where he was serving a life-without-parole sentence for a 2013 murder.

Players request support: A group of current and former NFL players asked Commissioner

for the league’s support for their campaign for racial equality and criminal justice reform.

Yahoo Sports reported the players sent a 10-page memo to Goodell and NFL executive

in August asking for money, political involvement and other commitments from the league. It also asked the NFL to recognize the month of November as activism awareness month. The website reported Wednesday night that Seahawks defensive end Eagles safety and receiver

and former NFL receiver co-authored the letter.

Rams beat 49ers:

threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns and Todd Gurley ran for two TDs and caught another to help the Los Angeles Rams put up another big offensive performance with a 41-39 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

The NFL's lowest-scoring team last year looks like a completely different outfit this season under first-year coach Sean McVay thanks to vastly improved play by Goff after a rough rookie season as the No. 1 overall pick.

Miller baffled by Broncos linebacker said he’s “baffled” by Cowboys wide receiver low hit on him Sunday.

Miller pushed through Brown’s block on the game’s second snap and Brown got up and dived at Miller’s knees as the Broncos star chased down

on a handoff

hit: from Miller shook off the hit to have a monster game in the Broncos’ 42-17 win, but he has dealt with soreness in his left knee this week.

“I’ve always tried to take care of players on my football team and opponents as well, so when it’s the other way around it’s just baffling,” Miller said. “But you can’t really spend too much time on it. Everybody doesn’t play the game like I play the game.”
