Falcons survive after overturned call

Matthew Stafford’s pass to Golden Tate was ruled to be just short of the goal line in the final seconds, overturnin­g the call on the field and allowing the Falcons to edge the Lions 30-26 on Sunday in Detroit.

The defending NFC champion Falcons (3-0) overcame Matt Ryan’s three intercepti­ons and many other mistakes. The Lions fell to 2-1. Patriots 36, Texans 33: Tom Brady connected with Brandin Cooks for a 25-yard touchdown pass with 23 seconds left, his fifth TD throw of the game. Brady finished 25 of 35 for 378 yards. Cooks caught five passes for 131 yards and two scores. Bears 23, Steelers 17: Jordan Howard scored on a 19-yard run in OT. He had 138 of the Bears’ 220 yards rushing. Ben Roethlisbe­rger threw for 235 yards and a TD for the Steelers, who fell to 1-13 in Chicago. Antonio Brown had 110 yards receiving and a touchdown. Eagles 27, Giants 24: Jake Elliott kicked a 61-yard FG as time expired. Elliott hit a 46-yarder to tie it with 51 seconds left after the Giants’ Aldrick Rosas converted from 41. Carson Wentz hit Alshon Jeffery for 19 yards to set up Elliott’s winner. Colts 31, Browns 28: Jacoby Brissett ran for two scores and threw for another. Brissett went 17 of 24 for 259 yards as the Colts avoided their first 0-3 start in six years. Redskins 27, Raiders 10: Kirk Cousins threw for 365 yards and three TDs, Chris Thompson had 188 all-purpose yards and the Redskins sacked Derek Carr four times and held the Raiders to 128 yards. Titans 33, Seahawks 27: Marcus Mariota threw for 225 yards and two TDs. DeMarco Murray ran for 115 yards, including a 75-yard TD run. The Titans scored 21 in a row. Bills 26, Broncos 16: Tyrod Taylor threw two scoring passes and the Bills intercepte­d Trevor Siemian twice in the final 19 minutes. Taylor went 20 of 26 for 213 yards. Jaguars 44, Ravens 7: Marcedes Lewis caught three of Blake Bortles’ four TD passes in London. Allen Hurns and Leonard Fournette also scored for the Jaguars, who’ve won three straight at Wembley Stadium. Saints 34, Panthers 13: Drew Brees shredded the NFL’s top-ranked defense for 220 yards and three touchdowns on six scoring drives. Jets 20, Dolphins 6: Josh McCown threw a 69-yard TD pass to Robby Anderson and the defense dominated. The Dolphins failed to convert their first eight third-down opportunit­ies and finished 1-for-12. Packers 27, Bengals 24: Mason Crosby kicked a 27-yard FG with 6:26 left in OT after Aaron Rodgers threw a 72-yard pass to Geronimo Allison. The Packers came back from a 21-7 halftime deficit. Rodgers threw for 313 yards and three TDs. Vikings 34, Buccaneers 17: With Sam Bradford out, Case Keenum passed for three TDs and a careerhigh 369 yards without a turnover. Stefon Diggs had 173 yards receiving and caught two scoring passes. Dalvin Cook had 169 total yards plus his first TD. Jameis Winston went 28 of 40 for 328 yards. Chiefs 24, Chargers 10: Alex Smith threw two TD passes in the first quarter, Terrance Mitchell had two INTs and rookie Kareem Hunt scored on a 69-yard run. Chargers QB Philip Rivers threw three INTs.
