That rings especially true for small schools throughout Class 4A-1A, who no longer have the luxury of qualifying for the playoffs by way of winning a district title.

Only schools competing in Class 8A-5A are grouped into districts. All others are competing for four playoff spots per region based on a strengthof-schedule system that awards points for wins and losses.

The First Academy currently sits atop the pack in Class 3A, Region 2 with a 43.65 point average. Lake Highland Prep ranks third in Class 4A, Region 3 with a 36.5 average while Wildwood is third in Class 1A, Region 4 with a 37.5 average.
