Wekiva holds up, Seminole climbs
Seminole moved back into the Top 10 of the Sentinel Super 16 football rankings and Wekiva strengthened its position as one of the top teams in the area with district championship victories last week.
Seminole is up three spots to No. 9 after winning 49-27 at home vs. then-No. 9 Lake Mary.
The Rams dropped two spots to No. 11 entering this week’s season finale against No. 2 Winter Park.
Seminole finishes at No. 7 Bishop Moore.
Also Friday, No. 15 Boone hosts No. 17 Edgewater in Orlando’s oldest ongoing rivalry.
Wekiva knocked off rival Apopka for the first time in 11 tries to secure a home playoff game in two weeks.
The Mustangs opened a big lead by returning an interception and blocked punt for touchdowns in a 22-14 win.
“We’ve got to just keep building,” Wekiva coach Rich Bedesem said.
“I think now ... people can start talking about us.”
