Spacey accused of more misconduct
A former teen actor who says he was in a “sexual relationship” with Kevin Spacey during the mid-1980s told Vulture that Spacey attempted to rape him — the latest in a series of people to accuse the “House of Cards” actor of impropriety.
Meanwhile, actors and former staff at the Old Vic theater in London — where Spacey was the artistic director for 11 years — accused the theater of turning a blind eye to Spacey’s alleged misconduct.
In the Vulture report, the now-48-year-old man, who opted to remain anonymous, detailed the pair’s relationship, starting with their first meeting in 1981 and culminating in what he described as a disturbing encounter at the star’s New York City apartment.
“I always have said, ‘He tried to rape me.’ I told him I didn’t want that, he went again to do it, I told him no, he went again and pushed harder and grabbed me and pushed harder,” the man recalled. “I don’t know how I would see that as anything besides an attempted rape, which I was able to thwart.”
Spacey’s lawyer told Vulture that the actor “absolutely denies” the allegations.
Spacey’s accuser told the outlet they first met when Spacey was a guest teacher at an acting class in Westchester County, N.Y. The accuser was then 12, while Spacey was 22. He does not claim any improper conduct occurred at that time. The man claimed the incident happened when he was 15.
In the wake of the allegations, the Old Vic has established a tip line for anyone who wishes to come forward with “concerns” about Spacey’s behavior.
