Tell politicians, celebs we won’t tolerate behavior.

-

From the beginning of football season, the subject of kneeling by players during the national anthem has received more attention than the sport itself. During this same period, the failure of the Senate to pass healthcare reform has received more attention than the reform itself. Recently, reports have said that because of a few Republican senators, the tax-relief plan will not pass. What does this all mean?

Do the football players really understand what they are protesting? Each week the reasons change. Are their efforts helping to reduce hate and unify the country? Conclusion: no.

Do each of the senators really care about doing the right thing by putting what is best for the nation ahead of personal agendas?

If that were the case, the debate would not be along party lines, and the rogue Republican senators would be more interested in passing legislation while trying to work out differences later. If the Senate really wants to pass tax reform, it can. Is there interest among Senate leaders to unify the country, getting things done together? Conclusion: no.

How do we go about unifying the country and working to stop hate? Maybe the best place to start is with elected officials and celebrities. Not only is their personal behavior unforgivable, but their use of the public and social media for their own promotion is reprehensible.

Conclusion: We all can help unify and stop hate. Let the politicians and celebrities know we will not tolerate their behavior and hate anymore.
