Orlando ends homestand 0-7
Joe Cox scored an unassisted goal at 16:48 in the third period to lift the Florida Everblades to a 4-3 win over the Orlando Solar Bears in ECHL action Sunday before a crowd of 4,915 at Amway Center.
The Solar Bears (2-6-2-0, 6 points) did all of their scoring in the second period on goals from Chris Crane, Joshua Winquist and Todd Skirving. Skirving’s goal put the hosts up 3-2 with just under 8 minutes left in the period before the conference-leading Everblades (10-2-0-1, 21 points) rallied on goals by Stephen MacAulay and Cox.
Orlando outshot Florida 38-26. Cal Heeter made 22 saves for the Solar Bears.
The loss concluded a winless seven-game homestand for Orlando, which travels to Atlanta to face the Gladiators on Thursday. The Solar Bears play 14 of their next 17 games on the road.
