Come and get ’em: Weekday specials

- Lauren Delgado OS Foodie ldelgado@ orlandosentinel.com

Go beyond the menu at local restaurants with their weekday specials. You could be dining on anything from a souped-up TV dinner to pepper-crusted ahi tuna, depending on the day and the restaurant.

These specials can change — so contact the restaurant for the specific details.

Monday

Mix the best of finedining and comfort food at The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park. The restaurant’s “Birds & Bubbles” special offers half of a fried chicken, two sides and choice of champagne or sparkling wine for $50.

Tuesday

It’s “Not Your Typical Tuesday” at Outpost Neighborhood Kitchen. One week the menu included buttermilk fried frog legs over smoked poblano corn cakes, topped with mustard cream sauce and served with a side of smashed sweet potato tots; and the next was rosemary grilled swordfish with blood orange glaze over a bed of spinach and purple potato pumpkin hash. Prices vary.

Wednesday

Boca makes it easy for diners looking for a quick to-go meal for two during the week. The Winter Park restaurant’s dinner for two includes an entree with side, two house salads and a dessert for $29.99. The entree varies, but we enjoyed Cajun chicken and shrimp pasta — along with some cookie dough fritters. This deal is available Monday-Friday 4-9 p.m.

Thursday

Soco offers daily specials, from wings and waffles on Wednesdays to a burger and bourbon on Fridays. For me, the TV Dinner on Thursdays for $18 is delicious, kitschy fun. The entree, two sides and dessert may vary, but I recently dined on peppery crisp fried chicken, creamy mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables and mixed berry cobbler. The meal is even served in a compartmentalized tray.

Friday

Every weeknight has a special theme at Cork and Fork — from fried chicken on Mondays to Mediterranean Night on Wednesdays. Fridays are seafood night. Dishes and prices vary, but recently I had the peppercrusted ahi tuna with vegetables in a teriyaki glaze and herbed rice for $23. The entree was the perfect blend of sweet and savory.
