Women searching for an adventure high can find it in a 17-day trip trekking to Everest Base Camp in Nepal. The women-only excursion, beginning April 22 and offered by World Expeditions, will be led by Sharon Wood, the first North American woman to climb Mount Everest and the first woman in the world to climb it by a new route without Sherpa assistance. The actual trek is 13 days, beginning at about 9,200-feet elevation and topping out at 17,500 at Base Camp. Rest days are built into the itinerary to allow proper acclimatization to the altitude, and porters ease the strain by toting the gear of trekkers, who need to carry only a daypack. In addition to the stunning scenery, highlights of the trek include visiting the Thyangboche Monastery and Namche Bazaar, which gives some insight into the Sherpa culture. There’s time at the beginning of the trip to explore Kathmandu. Lodging during the trek is in eco camps or eco lodges, and in hotels before and after the hike. The adventure is priced at a very reasonable $2,590 per person, which includes internal flights. International air is extra. Info: 800-567-2216,

Uniworld’s July 20 Remarkable Rhine cruise from Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland, will offer additional insights at stops along the way as part of the cruise line’s Jewish Heritage program. On board will be Rachel Korazim, who holds a doctorate in Jewish education. Shore excursions will tie in to the Jewish Heritage program. Pricing for the eight-night cruise is from $3,359 per person, double occupancy, which includes shore excursions.
