4 suspects facing charges in chase, crash in Oviedo

- By David Harris and Bianca Padró Ocasio

Three adults and a minor are facing charges after attempting to shoplift and striking an unmarked police car at Oviedo Mall, police said.

Daquez Warren, 18, was arrested Tuesday on charges including aggravated battery on a police officer, fleeing police and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to an arrest report, Warren drove from St. Petersburg with Roneishia Young, 18; Deliscia Diane Church, 19; a 17-year-old girl whose name was not released; and another female, who was not detained.

Young, Church and the 17-year-old got out of Warren’s Nissan Maxima about 5 p.m. in front of Dillard’s, while the other female stayed in the front seat. An unmarked police car patrolling the area spotted the vehicle, which had no tag and dark tinted windows.

Shortly afterward, the three women ran out of the store and got in the back seat of Warren’s car, according to the arrest report. The officer tried to block the car, but Warren struck the back of the unmarked vehicle and fled the scene.

Warren admitted to police that he was aware the unmarked car was a cop car, the report shows.

He crashed into another vehicle near State Road 426 and Dean Road, where all five were detained by patrol officers. No one was injured, police said.

The three women — who did not actually steal anything from Dillard’s because they were stopped by a security guard — were charged with criminal conspiracy and attempted shoplifting. Church and Young also were charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Warren was booked into the Seminole County Jail on a bond of $8,750. Young and Church were being held on a bond of $1,000 each.
