Disney World announces ’18 concert lineups

Walt Disney World announced its 2018 lineup for the Garden Rocks concert series, the musical component of the Epcot Internatio­nal Flower & Garden Festival, as well as for the Disney on Broadway concert series, part of the Epcot Internatio­nal Festival of the Arts that kicks off next month.

Among the newbies for Garden Rocks are Foghat (“Slow Ride”) and Lonestar (“Amazed”). Some of the artists, including Rick Springfiel­d and Smash Mouth, have participat­ed in other Disney festivals but are making their Flower & Garden debuts.

The new singer to Disney on Broadway will be Kara Lindsay, who played Katherine in “Newsies” on Broadway.

The performanc­es for both events will be held three times nightly Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays and are included in regular Epcot admission. Dining packages tied to both events’ performanc­es are available.

Disney on Broadway runs from Jan. 12-Feb. 19. The musical lineup for its 2018 run is much the same as last year’s event. Subject to change, it includes: Jan. 12-15 and Jan. 19-22: Kara Lindsay and Kevin Massey, performing songs from “Tarzan,” “Aladdin,” “Newsies” and “Frozen.” Jan. 26-29 and Feb. 2-5: Kissy Simmons and Alton Fitzgerald White, performing songs from “Tarzan,” “The Lion King,” “Aida,” “Aladdin” and “The Little Mermaid.” Feb. 9-12 and Feb. 16-19: Ashley Brown and Josh Strickland with songs from “Beauty and the Beast,” “Tarzan” “The Little Mermaid,” “Mary Poppins,” “Newsies” and “Frozen.” Garden Rocks runs Feb. 28- May 28. The lineup, subject to change, is: March 2-5: Night Ranger March 9-12: Starship starring Mickey Thomas March 16-19: Simple Plan March 23-26: Little River Band March 30-April 2: The Orchestra starring former members of ELO April 6-7: Foghat April 8-9: Survivor April 13-14: Smash Mouth April 15-16: Rick Springfiel­d April 20-21: Jo Dee Messina April 22-23: Lonestar April 27-30: Blood, Sweat and Tears featuring Bo Bice May 4-7: Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone May 11-12: Village People May 13-14: Don Felder, formerly of the Eagles May 18-21: The Guess Who May 25-28: The Spinners Show times during both festivals for performanc­es at the theme park’s America Gardens Theatre are 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 8 p.m..
