New jersey has space theme

-

Nike is employing an outer space theme for the Orlando Magic’s newest alternate jersey.

The Magic’s “City Edition” jersey, which is now on sale on the NBA Store’s European site and also was previewed by Nike on Wednesday morning, features a star field on its front and back, in addition to a grayand-black Magic logo on its front.

The team will debut its new jerseys during its home game Jan. 31 against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Nike markets the new Magic jerseys this way: “Some things are bigger than our imagination, and greater than life. The Magic City Edition uniform is covered in stars and features a shimmery comet ball for a cosmic look and feel.”

The outer space theme borrows, of course, from Central Florida’s critical place in the history of the U.S. space program. The Kennedy Space Center is located on Merritt Island near Cape Canaveral.

Nike succeeded Adidas as the NBA’s uniform supplier prior to this season.

Nike’s intention to employ an outer space theme has been rumored for the last month. questionable to play. (strained calf/ bone bruise) and (sore right ankle) also are questionable. hand fracture) and (right knee sprain/fracture) will not play.

On Dec. 17, Jackson scored 17 points, dished out six assists and turned the ball over six times as the Pistons defeated the Magic 114-110 in Detroit.

“Stan’s as good as anybody at teaching the spread offense game with the forceful roller, the lob threat,” Magic coach said.

“Drummond is an elite roller and rebounder. They’ve improved their 3-point shooting this year. That was their big issue last year in Detroit compared to the teams he had here. He put 3-point shooting around

rolling to the basket, and that’s what he’s trying to build up in Detroit. Last year, they just didn’t have the 3-point shooting support, but they’re shooting the ball well from the perimeter now.”

Still, Jackson’s absence likely will make Detroit less effective in the pick-and-roll because his backup at point guard, former Magic player

isn’t quite as good a shooter as Jackson is.

On Wednesday, the Magic still stung from their 107-89 loss Tuesday night to the Miami Heat.

Orlando led Miami 49-43 at halftime, but Orlando committed 10 turnovers in the third quarter.

“We didn’t play with the pass well enough,” Vogel said. “You’ve got to credit Miami. They made some strong defensive plays on a handful of them, but too many times we tried to dribble into seams that weren’t there instead of playing with the pass.”
