Count the football openings

The count on area football head coaching vacancies continues to grow.

Olympia announced last week that was relieved of coaching duties after three seasons. Hayes will remain on staff as the school’s college and career counselor.

Hayes led Olympia to the playoffs twice and went 19-14 during his tenure, including a 6-5 finish in 2017. Five seniors signed with college football programs last Wednesday.

“After a thorough review of all aspects of our football program, we have chosen to move in a different direction that will bring a sense of unity to the entire athletic department, school, and Olympia community,” Olympia athletic director
