More details issued in Valencia attack
A Valencia College student was in the restroom when a man appeared and tried to rape her, according to an Orange County Sheriff's Office report released Thursday. The woman told police she went to the restroom after class about 8 p.m. Tuesday at the college’s east campus on Econlockhatchee Trail. She was washing her hands when she saw the man behind her, the report said.
He threw her on the floor and tried to take off her clothes, the report said. She struggled with the man for about two minutes.
Students in the area said they heard screaming and saw a man run out of the bathroom, with the victim saying “He was trying to rape me,” according to the report. Several people chased the suspect but couldn’t catch him. He was last seen near the fitness center.
The victim was not injured, and authorities are working with campus security to find the suspect.
Deputies released a sketch of the man Wednesday. He was described as about 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds and was wearing an orange sweater vest and blue jeans.
