with murder in the stabbing death of a 16-year-old Seminole High School student might testify against another defendant in exchange for probation, attorneys say.

A man once charged with murder in the death of a 16-year-old Seminole High School student was granted a plea deal on a drug charge Thursday and in exchange may testify against another defendant.

Justin Seale, 20, of Longwood, pleaded no contest to sale of a controlled substance. Kaleb Rabun, 16, was killed Sept. 19 during the drug deal, prosecutors said.

Kaleb’s mother dabbed tears and watched Seale as he walked to a podium facing the judge. She wore a bright red shirt bearing her son’s picture and the words “Always in my heart.”

She left the courtroom halfway through Seale’s plea.

Circuit Judge Marlene Alva sentenced him to four years of probation. He also was ordered to pay fines and complete 50 hours of community service.

Another teen, a friend of Kaleb’s, is charged with seconddegree murder. The Orlando Sentinel typically does not name juveniles accused of crimes.

Jeff Dowdy, head of the public defender’s office in Sanford, said in September that the three were involved in a drug deal and Seale “was a victim.”

Through texts, the friend, 16, and Seale arranged to meet at Stonebrook Apartments in Sanford. Seale planned to sell 100 Alprazolam pills for $300, prosecutors said.

But Kaleb and his friend planned to rob Seale, according to a Sanford police report.

Kaleb got into Seale’s truck and, a few minutes later, stumbled out with a stab wound in his upper chest. Kaleb’s friend called 911, but he died before paramedics arrived.

The friend was charged more than a month later. He was initially hesitant to provide information to police, according to the arrest report.

Another juvenile also was involved with the plan but backed out when they got to the apartment complex, authorities said.
