They saw dots — lots of them — today in Southern California. Minnie Mouse finally got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The character, which was created by Walt Disney and first appeared in the film “Steamboat Willie” in 1928, follows in the footsteps of Mickey Mouse, which was given the honor in 1978, his 50th birthday.

Mickey was the first fictional character to be added to the Walk of Fame. Since then, 15 others have been enshrined, including Disney cohorts Donald Duck, Kermit the Frog, Snow White, Tinker Bell, Winnie the Pooh and, as a group, the Muppets.

Minnie’s is the 2,627th star built into the sidewalks along the Walk of Fame, which is administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and maintained by Hollywood Historic Trust.

For the ceremony, Minnie was joined by Bob Iger, chairman and CEO of Walt Disney Co., and singer Katy Perry, a judge on ABC’s upcoming “American Idol” competition.

Perry was described as a “lifelong Minnie devotee,” and she arrived on stage in a red dress with white polka dots with matching wide-brimmed hat.

“Some of my favorite moments are introducing Minnie to my friends, my colleagues and my nieces, who are sitting here today,” Perry said. She said her earliest memory was of diapers with Mickey and Minnie on them.

Iger made note of Minnie’s style influence — he wore a polka-dot pocket square — and called her “a true legend, a real character and the official first lady of the Walt Disney Co.”

Mickey was at the ceremony, but Minnie had the spotlight.

Leron Gubler, president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce played it straight, saluting Minnie’s 90 years in entertainment and her “old Hollywood elegance.”

He called her a “woman of the ages.” Perry agreed. “No one rocks a bow, the color red or a dot quite like her,” she said.

Also present — and also in polka dots — was model and TV host Heidi Klum.

The Walk of Fame honorees for 2018 were announced last summer. Among those with Disney connections are “Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill, Anthony Anderson (ABC’s “Black-ish”) and Shonda Rhimes (producer of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” others).

Already added to the walk this year have been actress Gillian Anderson and singer Mary J. Blige.

Other celebrities to earn a spot this year are the late Steve “The Crocodile Hunter” Irwin, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Lynda Carter, RuPaul, Simon Cowell, Jennifer Lawrence, Snoop Dogg, Ice T, Carrie Underwood, Taraji P. Henson, Eric McCormack, Ryan Murphy, Harry Connick Jr., Niecy Nash, Mandy Patinkin, Jack Black, Kirsten Dunst, Jeff Goldblum, F. Gary Gray, Gina Lollobrigida, Nick Nolte, Zoe Saldana, Richard Branson, Petula Clark, “Weird” Al Yankovic, Charles Aznavour, radio host Steve Jones and late comedian Bernie Mac.
