Elderly woman hurt in Pine Hills attack was victim of earlier assault
The 92-year-old woman who suffered a broken back in a vicious attack earlier this month was also a victim of a home invasion last summer, according to the Orange County Sheriff ’s Office.
Elizabeth Ring, a 40-year resident of Orange County, was in the garage of her Hiawassee Road home in Pine Hills on Jan. 17 when she heard her doorbell.
She told deputies she does not answer the door because of the previous home invasion, but the man entered her garage.
The man asked to use the bathroom and became aggressive when she refused, deputies said.
He pulled out a gun and began to struggle with Ring, throwing her to the ground. The man then burglarized her home.
She was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she went through hours of surgery to repair her broken back, deputies said.
Ring met with a sketch artist Monday; it was released to the public Tuesday.
At last check, she was listed in stable condition at the hospital.
In August, Ring was at home when she heard a knock on the door.
A man and woman said they were with “Orange County Utility Company” and needed to check the water pressure.
She told them to check the pressure in the garage sink and went back inside. According to the report, the man came into the house and grabbed three gold chains from her neck.
She suffered a bruise on her lip, but was not seriously injured, deputies said.
The reports indicate the crimes were committed by different suspects.
No arrests have been made in either attack.
Sheriff’s Office officials described Ring as “well known and well liked in her neighborhood” and said she has a strong family support system.
