Developers submit food-truck park plan

- Kyle Arnold

Love food trucks but hate tracking them down?

A local couple is planning a food-truck park east of downtown.

Dustin and April Williams submitted plans to the City of Orlando for a food-truck park at 615 Irvington Ave., near the Milk District, emulating similar projects on the West Coast.

Plans call for a parking area for five food trucks, a covered area with garage doors and a courtyard for tables.

“The food truck roundups here are great, but really we want to give customers a place they can go and consistently find food trucks,” said Dustin Williams, a former high school teacher in Oregon. “What we are building is basically a pavilion with outdoor seating and a spot for a vendor that can do craft beer, cider and coffee.”

The Williams have hired an architect and are calling the spot A La Cart Street Food and Craft Beer.

Japanese eats

The chef and owner at East End Market ramen restaurant Domu is opening a new Japanese eatery in the Mills 50 district.

Chef Sonny Nguyen is working to open Tori Tori at 720 N. Mills Ave. this summer as a Japanese pub, he said in a statement.
