Magic waiting to sign guard

With two point guards and a roster spot open following Thursday’s trade of the Orlando Magic probably will wait until after the All-Star break to sign someone to a 10-day contract to back up

said it would make sense to wait to sign someone because the Magic’s All-Star break, which will run from Feb. 15-21, would take up a significan­t portion of a 10-day contract.

Under NBA rules, a team is permitted to sign an individual player to two 10-day contracts in one season.

After the second 10-day contract, the only way for the team to keep that player is to sign him for the rest of the season.
