GuideWell expands health-care facilities

is expanding and diversifyi­ng its footprint in Central Florida, establishi­ng a medical center and a primary-care facility.

in Lake Mary is exclusive to Florida Blue and Florida Health Care Plan members, offering primary care, pharmacy, radiology, case management and education classes.

“The reason we're doing it is accessibil­ity, affordabil­ity and whole-person care,” said Prakash Patel, president of GuideWell Health.

GuideWell’s endeavor into patient care started with GuideWell Emergency Doctors, which are urgentcare centers that are staffed by ER physicians, with three locations in the greater Orlando. GuideWell Health is a subsidiary of GuideWell, which is also Florida Blue’s parent company. surgery and interventi­onal cardiology. The addition is part of the health system’s growing cardiac services and is also in response to Osceola County’s rapidlygro­wing population.

has been named Chief Medical Officer of Florida Hospital East Orlando. is joining Florida Hospital Kissimmee as Chief Medical Officer.

The Agency for Health Administra­tion approved the following Central Florida facilities’ Certificat­e of Need requests:

to add 20 community nursing-home beds to its Lake County location, and

to build a new 61-bed community nursing home in Seminole County.

is holding its 20th anniversar­y gala at Citrus Club in Downtown Orlando on April 5. The nonprofit program helps provide medical care for uninsured and underinsur­ed children. It provided in-kind services totaling $74,979 to 33 children in 2016. It is a member of Orange County Primary Care Access Network.

has started two new residency programs. The psychiatry residency program has six slots per year and is directed by Dr. Martin Klapheke. The anesthesio­logy residency program has nine slots and is directed by Dr. Ettore Crimi. The consortium has 21 residencie­s.

,a 120-bed skilled nursing facility and member of Consulate Health Care, has achieved five-star rating from The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

was awarded Chest Pain Center Accreditat­ion with Primary PCI by the American College of Cardiology.
