Ovechkin newest member of 600 club

Alex Ovechkin on Monday night became the 20th player in NHL history to score 600 goals.

The Capitals captain scored twice during a 3-2 overtime victory over the Jets in Washington, the second of those goals allowing him to reach the milestone in his 990th regular-season game. Ovechkin joined Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Brett Hull as the only players to score 600 in fewer than 1,000 games.

His goal 3 minutes, 53 seconds into the second period was his 42nd of the season. He has scored 50 in a season seven times, more than anyone except Gretzky and Mike Bossy, both of whom had nine 50-goal seasons.
