Seminole County sits on top

Seminole County teams sit atop the Sentinel Super Six baseball rankings after six weeks of regular-season play.

Class 8A’s Hagerty enters a district series this week against Lake Howell as the No. 1 area team among programs in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Sumter and Volusia counties.

The Huskies, 2-0 in district play, host the No. 12 Silver Hawks tonight. Lake Howell, 4-0 in the league to date, serves as the home team Friday. Both games start at 7 p.m.

No. 2 Lake Mary has been aided in Class 9A this season by the strong arm of Anthony Rossi, who has struck out 40 batters and allowed just four earned runs in 271⁄3 innings of work. Lake Mary faces Orange City University in a district series this week.

Hagerty defeated the Rams 7-6 on Feb. 22. They’ll meet one last time on April 17 at Lake Mary.

Here are the rankings with records through last week: — Defeated Lake Mary, Olympia and DeLand. Split with Oviedo and lost 4-2 to Montverde Academy.

— Notched wins over Bishop Moore and Dr. Phillips. Split with Port Orange Spruce Creek and lost 7-6 to Hagerty.

— Won vs. defending 9A champion Timber Creek and took two from Lake Howell. Lost to Lake Mary, East Ridge and Dr. Phillips.

— Five one-run losses came against Bishop Moore, Oviedo, Winter park, Colonial and Orangewood Christian.

— Split vs. Boone and won against Osceola, Olympia and Winter Park. Lost 4-2 to Timber Creek.

— Five-game win streak includes wild 14-13 victory vs. visiting West Orange on March 27.
