is fired as Orlando Magic coach Thursday after the team, plagued by injuries, closed a disappoint­ing 25-57 season by beating the Wizards. Vogel coached the Magic for two years.

The Orlando Magic are looking for a new coach. Again. The team fired Frank Vogel on Thursday, a move that continues a trend of severe instabilit­y at the team’s head-coaching position.

Magic President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman informed Vogel of the move around 8:35 a.m.,

less than 10 hours after the team completed its injury-ravaged season with a 25-57 record.

Weltman would not detail the reasons for the dismissal — most likely out of respect for Vogel. Vogel had been a good company man throughout his two-year tenure, never blaming anyone publicly for his 54-110 record with the Magic.

“I won’t drill too deeply into specifics,” Weltman said. “It was a season-long evaluation process.”

Last May, the Magic hired Weltman and a new general manager, John Hammond. Weltman and Hammond decided they would spend their first year on the job evaluating every aspect of the Magic’s basketball-operations department, including the coaching staff.

In addition to firing Vogel, the Magic also dismissed lead assistant coach Chad Forcier and assistant coaches Corliss Williamson and Jay Hernandez.
