An Orlando man who mysteriously vanished from a Miami club was found safe Tuesday, Miami police said. Jeremiah Chavez was getting medical attention after Miami Shores police found him hiding behind a wall at the Archdiocese of Miami.

He’ad been celebrating his 28th birthday with friends at Club Space downtown Saturday night when he separated from them. His friends said they traveled back to Orlando after being unable to find Chavez, his mother said.

One of those friends, Travis Porter, told NBC Miami he got a call from Chavez who said people were trying to kill him.

Chavez also called his sister about noon Sunday, urging her to call police because he was being chased. He posted a Snapchat video in which he appeared to be out of breath and said he is “documenting everything.”

“He stated that someone was chasing him to kill him and all I saw in that [Snapchat] video is he was running for his life,” his mother told reporters Monday.

Chavez’s parents, Marie and Jamie Chavez, traveled from Orlando to Miami and made public pleas for help finding him Monday, his birthday.

On Tuesday, police in Miami Shores were called about a disturbance at the Archdiocese near Biscayne Boulevard and 94th Street, where they found Chavez. He was reunited with his family, police said. “Just to know that he’s alive, that makes me happy,” Mary Chavez told WSVN-Ch. 7 as she went to be reunited with her son.

Other details on why Chavez went missing and what led him to Miami Shores have not yet been released.
