Top recruits check out Knights’ game

- By Chris Hays

UCF had a nice turnout of visiting recruits on hand Saturday night for the springgame debut of new coach Josh Heupel.

Some of the biggest local names in the crowd were Orlando Timber Creek running back Peter Hayes-Patrick and Wekiva teammates cornerback Brandon Hill and receiver Malik Tolbert.

Hill said he could see himself playing at UCF in the future while Tolbert has no leaders among schools recruiting him so far.

Hayes-Patrick, the younger brother of FSU running back Jacques Patrick, said he’ll likely make his college decision near the middle of the spring-practice season. That comes early for Timber Creek, which plays its spring game May 10. He did not divulge his top schools, but he has offers from UCF, FSU, FAU, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Ohio State and Kentucky.

Several key out-of-area targets were also among the invited visitors, and two of the biggest were Vero Beach rush end Jahfari Harvey and Tallahassee Rickards receiver Trevor Solomon Wilson.

Harvey, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound defensive end, has 10 offers so far, including one from UCF.

His others are from Miami, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Mississippi State, Syracuse, USF, Wake Forest and Western Kentucky.

Miami commit Marcus Crowley (6-0, 165), a running back out of Jacksonville Trinity Catholic, was also in the crowd.

Solomon Wilson (5-11, 188) has offers from UCF, Cincinnati, Oregon and USF.

Other players in attendance Saturday who are high on UCF’s target list include Eau Gallie cornerback Jarrad Baker Jr. (6-0, 175), Rockledge athlete O.C. Brothers (6-2, 210), Folkson (Ga.) Charlton County athlete Raykwon Anderson and Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons running back Vincent Davis.

Other local players in the crowd included Edgewater quarterback R.J. Harvey and defensive end Nate White, Wekiva quarterback Sean Robles, Faith Christian athlete Makai Burris, Ocoee cornerback Kendall Bohler, Evans athletes Eric Doctor and Tommi Hill, Winter Park defensive lineman Nick Jackson (who just transferred from Timber Creek) and Bishop Moore receiver Alex Andre, defensive back Jordan Jackson and lineman Arthur Ray.

Other out-of-area players at Saturday’s spring game were Gainesville Bucholz TE Noah Keeter, Covington (Ga.) East Bay OL Lemarius Benson, Winter Haven All Saints QB Carl Wagner Lübech Christensen, and Callahan West Nassau WR Davian Williams, LB Centari Mitchell, CB Damon Harris and OL Trey McCullough.

Several players who have already signed with UCF were at Spectrum Stadium Saturday, including Bishop Moore OL Eric Seidelman and RB Trilion Coles, Windermere Prep ATH Rashaan Lewis, Gainesville St. Francis Catholic DL Ike Walker and Fredericksburg (Va.) Stafford DE Landon Woodson .
