Deputies: Man hit woman twice with car as kids cried

- By Jeff Weiner

A man struck a woman twice with a car during an argument Saturday as two kids inside the vehicle pleaded with him to stop, according to arrest paperwork in Orange County.

Junior Isaac Eugene, 26, faces felony charges of aggravated battery with a motor vehicle, aggravated domestic battery with great bodily harm and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, jail records show.

He was arrested Tuesday and has since been released on bail.

Deputies were called Saturday to a shopping center parking lot at 7192 W. Colonial Drive, arriving to find a woman lying on the ground surrounded by concerned onlookers who said she had been hit by a car.

The woman was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center. According to investigators, a witness said the driver of a blue Honda had yelled at her, hit her with the car and tried to force her inside before fleeing.

At the hospital, the woman told investigators she and Eugene had gotten into an argument about jealousy while sitting inside the Honda, prompting her to leave the car and begin to walk away from him.

She said Eugene shouted at her: “Where the [expletive] are you going?”

According to an affidavit, the woman said she kept walking, which is when Eugene accelerated and struck her with the right side of the car, causing her to fall — then hit her again as she lay on the ground.

Eugene then exited the car and whispered in the woman’s ear that it was an accident, she told deputies, offering to take her to a hospital. As he tried to pick her up, she told him to leave her alone, the affidavit said.

According to the affidavit, two children were inside the car at the time. The kids — whose ages were not listed — “were yelling and crying,” telling Eugene to stop the attack, the woman told investigators.

The woman suffered a broken ankle, records show. Investigators said she refused to give a written statement and didn’t want Eugene prosecuted. He declined to comment when reached by phone Wednesday.
