Lake Highland Prep senior captain
scored twice on fast breaks eight seconds apart in the third minute and the Highlanders never looked back en route to a 13-3 girls lacrosse state semifinal win over Hagerty on Thursday evening.
Lake Highland (18-6) advances to play the winner of the second semifinal, nationally ranked Delray Beach-American Heritage (20-1) tonight at 9 for the championship in Boca Raton. The Stallions won 11-5 over Vero Beach. Despite stalwart defense by junior goalkeeper who was under pressure for most of the match, Hagerty (19-4) had difficulty keeping up with the faster and deeper Highlanders.
Juniors and Farris each netted two goals to help Lake Highland build a 10-2 lead at halftime.
Perreault finished with four goals. Sophomore added two goals and an assist. Lake Highland led 4-0 before junior
scored the Huskies’ first goal. It was 8-1 when Pomp assisted sophomore for Hagerty’s second score.

Dern congratulated the Hagerty team and coach on a fine season, noting that they improved significantly from their 10-5 loss to the Highlanders in their season opener.
“The fact that they (Hagerty) got here is something to celebrate,” Dern said.
Perreault, Norsworthy and Thurston, assisted by her freshman sister, Ashley, each added their third goals in the second half.

There was a pretty good crowd on hand for Thursday’s spring football game between host Lake Nona and Timber Creek.

The senior-to-be has received scholarship offers from 13 schools, according to his father and that number is sure to increase after the Lions 23-14 victory over Timber Creek.

“He’s really enjoying it,” said about his son’s recruiting process. “We’re both excited to have all these colleges come out and recognize his talent. On the other hand, it’s also a lot of work.”
And Michael got to experience something new while visiting two of the schools that have offered, Toledo and Akron.
“He got to see snow for the first time,” Jeff said.
Michael threw for 180 yards on Thursday, while another senior prospect, running back rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns for the Lions.
