Bishop Moore falls in final
Bishop Moore lost 11-8 to Jupiter (21-2) in Saturday night’s Florida High School Athletic Association boys lacrosse state championship game at Boca Raton High School.
The Hornets, who reached a boys lacrosse state tournament for the first time in program history, finished with an 18-3 record.
The game was tied 4-4 at the half and Bishop Moore led 5-4 early in the third period.
The Hornets are due to return their eight leading points scorers, including junior scoring leader and sophomore and
Bishop Moore does graduate senior defensive standouts and and stellar goalkeeper for the Mustangs (15-1).
Alonso (16-0) won the championship game 19-7 over Seminole Ridge, a 38-6 winner over Cooper City in the other semifinal.
Tampa Robinson won its third straight Class 1A championship 16-0 over Miami Edison.
Robinson defeated Green Cove Springs Clay 24-0, and Miami Edison blanked Belle Glade Glades Central 13-0 in the semifinals.
Dr. Phillips will induct three women from its 2013 graduating class into its Athletics Hall of Fame on Wednesday, May 23rd, at 6:30 p.m. on campus.
The trio is five-time state champ swimmer a ninetime state champ distance runner; and
who was on four statetitle basketball and flag-football teams while earning the monikor “Hannah Joe Montana” as an standout quarterback.
Algee swam at Miami, Blake ran collegiately at at FSU and Michigan State, and Schaible played basketball for George Washington.
The awards and induction ceremony starts at 6:30 p.m. at the school north cafeteria. Admission is free.
