DP coach departs after state semi trip
Phillips baseball coach
is leaving his alma mater to take over the baseball program at Winter Springs less than a week after leading the Panthers to the state final four. Bradley, a 1998 DP grad and Lake Mary resident, made the announcement on his twitter account Tuesday. The Panthers lost in a Class 9A semifinal to Timber Creek 5-1 on Saturday.
He cited the opportunity to spend more time with his family as playing a factor in the change.
“What an incredible ride it’s been at Dr. Phillips,” Bradley said in a prepared statement. “It saddens me to say, after a lot of thought and deliberation, I have decided to step down from my teaching and coaching positions at Dr. Phillips High School.”
Bradley spent two years as an assistant with the Panthers before compiling a program-record 147 wins over nine seasons as head coach. The Panthers reached the postseason seven Dr. times under his guidance from 2010-18.
“Coach Bradley was a huge success within our program,” DP athletic director said. “He’s going to be missed greatly. He was the true meaning of being a DP Panther.”
Bradley becomes the fourth head coach in program history at Winter Springs, where he served as an assistant under current Lake Mary coach
from 2004-07.
