Knights set to host Rattlers in ’19 opener
It’s been more than 30 years since UCF last played Florida A&M on the gridiron. The Knights will resume the series with the Rattlers in 2019.
FAMU will travel to Spectrum Stadium for the season opener next year. It will be the first time the two programs have faced off since 1987. UCF lost that meeting 19-14 at Bragg Memorial Stadium in Tallahassee.
At the time, UCF was a Division II member while FAMU played at the Division I-AA level that is now called Football Championship Subdivision.
“This is a great seasonopening matchup between one of the top Football Bowl Subdivision teams in UCF and a reemerging Football Championship Subdivision contender in FAMU,” FAMU athletics director
said. “It is a ‘win-win’ for Florida’s football fans, alumni and supporters of both schools.”
The Knights hold a 105-57-1 overall record against teams outside the Football Bowl Subdivision.
UCF’s nonconference schedule in 2019 includes FAMU (Week 1), at FAU (Sept. 7), Stanford (Sept. 14) and at Pittsburgh (Sept. 21). team didn't publicly specify the nature of the violation.
