Parkland activist Emma Gonzalez, the most recognizable figure of the #NeverAgain movement, has been named one of the “Badass 50” women by InStyle magazine.

Gonzalez was noted for her “passionate speech” at an anti-gun rally in Fort Lauderdale after the Feb. 14 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. In that 11-minute speech, the 18-year-old said, “it’s time for victims to be the change that we need to see.”

The magazine also noted that Gonzalez “inspired a worldwide cry for gun reform in America. Since then she and her peers have taken on the powerful NRA, uniting their generation to push for stricter regulations.”

Gonzalez, who is the first of the 50 listed, joins other notable women who are “tough, outspoken, and consistent” including broadcaster Katie Couric, primatologist Jane Goodall, Supreme Court associate Ruth Bader Ginsburg, “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.

Gonzalez, a recent graduate from Stoneman Douglas, continues to be a voice in the #NeverAgain movement to change gun laws. She is on a national tour called the March for our Lives Road for Change with fellow graduates and classmates.

In March, former presidential candidate Hilary Clinton shared a Tweet about who inspired her for International Women’s Day and she listed Gonzalez among a group “whose righteous voices have pushed us to see possibility and a path forward on gun violence prevention.”
