Knights launch ‘KZ’ Heisman campaign

-

UCF has launched a McKenzie Milton for Heisman Trophy campaign, playing off the record-setting quarterback’s Hawaii roots.

The Knights unveiled a new “HIsman” logo and the social media hashtag #Hisman. The school also showcased a new website www.MiltonForHIsman.KZ to share the award-winning quarterback’s statistics and milestones.

The website URL features the “HIsman” branding and the letters “KZ,” a play on Milton’s “KZ” nickname used by family and friends.

Milton placed eighth in the Heisman voting last season after leading UCF to a 13-0 record and a win over Auburn in the Peach Bowl. He is one of three returning players who received 2017 Heisman votes and the only quarterback in the group.

Milton ranked in the top 10 nationally in most quarterback statistical categories.

He ranked second in passing efficiency (179.3) and yards per attempt (10.22), finishing narrowly behind 2017 Heisman winner and No. 1 NFL draft pick Baker Mayfield.

Milton ranked fourth in total offense (357.7 yards per game), fourth in passing touchdowns (37), fourth in completion percentage (67.1), fifth in points responsible for (20.8), fifth in yards per completion (15.23) and seventh in passing yards per game (310.5). Countdown to Kickoff luncheon on Thursday, Aug. 16, at CFE Arena.

Knights fans will be able to interact with current members of the football team during the event.

Limited tickets for the event ($115 a piece) can be purchased by contacting the Golden Knights Club at 407-823-2086 or goldenknightsclub@athletics.ucf.edu. Corporate sponsorships also are available for the event.

The proceeds will be used to help provide scholarships and resources for athletes.
