It’s National Ice Cream Day

and there are plenty of places to celebrate with cool, sweet treats.

Today is National Ice Cream Day. Treat yourself and beat the Florida heat with a scoop (or two!) of your favorite flavor of ice cream. The chilly dessert is available pretty much everywhere from grocery stores to theme parks. Here are a few fun, ice cream-centric shops in Central Florida where you can find your frozen treat: The Soda Fountain.

Sundaes, milkshakes, sorbet and floats are all on the menu at The Soda Fountain. Location: 2525 Edgewater Drive, Orlando Florean Fortescue’s

Ice-Cream Parlour. You don’t HAVE to have the Butterbeer flavored ice cream at Universal’s Harry Potter-themed ice cream shop in Diagon Alley. I checked, they have flavors ranging from banana, mint, apple crumble, vanilla to salted caramel blondie. Location: 1000 Universal Studios Plaza, Orlando Kelly's Homemade Ice

Cream. Known for making homemade ice cream and sorbets. They develop unique and seasonal flavors and produce them in small batches right here in Central Florida. The shop also has an ice-cream truck and does events throughout Central Florida. They can be found at the Lake Nona Farmer’s Market every Monday 4:30 – 8 p.m. Locations: 3114 Corrine Dr., Orlando and 1817 S. Ferncreek Ave., Orlando

Slab: Monday through Friday 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., take $1 off all shakes for Slab Happy Hour.

Whole Foods: All Whole Foods stores will hold a three-day sale (July 13 to July 15) on Ben & Jerry’s and Talenti ice cream pints. Get two of any Ben & Jerry’s or Talenti pints for $6. Amazon Prime members get an extra 10 percent off, thanks to Prime Day.
