Angels: Manager Mike Scioscia forcefully denied a report that he would step down after the season. “There’s always chatter out there, but the only word I have for it is poppycock,” he said. “That’s all I’m going to say about it.” Asked if he still liked managing, Scioscia said, “I love it.” ... Mike Trout sat out his fourth straight game with a wrist injury as the Angels fell to the Indians 4-3. Jose Ramirez hit a three-run homer, and rookie Shane Bieber picked up his sixth win.

Padres: RHPs Tyson Ross and Jordan Lyles were lost on waiver claims. Ross (6-9, 4.45) was claimed by the Cardinals, and Lyles (2-4, 4.29) was picked up by the Brewers.

A’s: Trevor Cahill struck out 10 in six innings, Khris Davis and Matt Chapman homered for the second straight game and the A’s blanked the Tigers 6-0 to complete a season sweep. The A’s, who have won six in a row, made franchise history by giving up no earned runs in a series of at least three games . ... RHP Shawn Kelley came over from the Nationals for internatio­nal slot money.

Rockies: Nolan Arenado’s home run with two outs in the 11th propelled the Rockies past the Brewers 5-4. The Brewers had tied it with three runs in the ninth off Adam Ottavino. Trevor Story homered for the third straight game with a three-run shot off starter Wade Miley.

Phillies: Asdrubal Cabrera hit a tiebreakin­g two-run homer in the eighth and the Phillies finished a four-game sweep of the Marlins 5-3. The Phils’ fifth win in a row kept them 1 ⁄ 2 games in front of the Braves in the NL East.

Braves: Nick Markakis hit a go-ahead home run in the 10th inning of a 5-4 win over the Mets. Markakis’ four hits gave him the major-league lead with 135. Starter Julio Teheran’s first career home run helped the Braves win for the sixth time in seven games.

Giants: Evan Longoria’s eighth-inning homer keyed a 3-2 win over the Diamondbac­ks that dropped the D’backs into a tie for first with the Dodgers in the NL West. Longoria went 3-for-4.
