“Lifeline: The Untold
Story of Saving the Pulse Survivors” has won three Telly Awards for the OneBlood blood bank.
“Lifeline: The Untold Story of Saving the Pulse Survivors,” the documentary from OneBlood blood bank, has received three Telly Awards.
The film won in the Charitable/Not-For-Profit Category and also the Public Interest/Awareness Category.
Susan Forbes, vice president of marketing and communications at OneBlood, received an individual craft achievement award for directing the film.
The documentary explains that the Central Floridians who gave blood shortly before the Pulse nightclub attack in June 2016 helped save shooting victims’ lives. The film premiered in June 2017 in Orlando.
“Blood donation has to be done in advance,” Forbes has said. “People who donated before were saving the lives. They were overlooked. We have to tell this story. It’s a bit of a misunderstood entity what it takes to get that blood to people.”
Forbes described those blood donors as “the first, first responders.” Those donations had been processed — it takes two to three days to do that — and were ready for the emergency room.
The Telly Awards, which honor the best work created within television and across video, received more than 12,000 entries.
In addition to the Telly Awards, “Lifeline” won a Communicator Award in the Documentary Category. The Communicator Awards salute big ideas in marketing and communications.
You can catch “Lifeline” on Amazon Prime Video.
The documentary has aired on more than 50 television stations across the country, including WRDQChannel 27 in Orlando.
