Ramsey, Fowler backs with Jags
JACKSONVILLE — Jalen Ramsey and Dante Fowler returned Monday from their suspensions that cost them a trip to Minnesota last week for Saturday’s preseason game and jointpractice work with the Vikings.
Both were suspended by coach Doug Marrone and executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin last Sunday “for violating team rules and conduct unbecoming of a Jaguars player.”
Ramsey and Fowler were seen during the first 20 minutes of Monday’s practice held at the indoor facility going through individual and team drills in shorts and helmets with their teammates.
They are expected to make their first public comments since their suspensions after this Saturday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons at TIAA Bank Field, the Jaguars announced.
“They’re back and we’re ready to go,” Marrone said. “We’ve got to focus ourselves on getting ready for Atlanta.”
Marrone would not say if he met specifically with Ramsey and Fowler but said he meets with players frequently.
Without them, the Jaguars defense still had a dominate performance that led to a 14-10 victory against Minnesota at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The Jaguars’ starting defense held quarterback Kirk Cousins to just 12 yards passing and forced the Vikings to go three-and-out on two of their first three possessions.
Tyler Patmon started in place of Ramsey at corner and had two pass breakups and a tackle.
Defensive end Yannick Ngakoue had four tackles and a sack.
Fowler was involved in an altercation with Ngakoue last week and they had to be separated multiple times, including as they walked toward the tunnel that leads to the team’s locker room at TIAA Bank Field.
