property appraiser files an appeal over a judge’s decision that sided with Walt Disney World’s contention that the market value of its expansive Yacht and Beach Club Resort is only $209 million.

Orange County Property Appraiser Rick Singh said he has filed an appeal over a judge’s decision that sided with Disney over the value of the Yacht and Beach Club Resort.

Disney sued Singh over the resort’s assessment for 2015 taxes, which ended up at trial this summer. It is one of several ongoing disputes between Walt Disney World Resort and Singh over the company’s theme parks, hotels and properties for several tax years.

In July, a judge shot down Singh’s $337 million assessment of the resort from 2015, which meant Disney would be refunded about $1.2 million in property taxes. Disney argued the property’s value was at $209 million, according to a July 17 filing.

“We are confident that a closer review of the calculations used to determine value will result in the ruling being overturned,” Singh said in a news release Monday. “It is simply illogical that The Yacht and Beach Club — with nearly 1200 guest rooms and over 100,000 square feet of meeting space — has a market value of $209 million.”

A Disney spokeswoman did not have a comment Monday but the company previously said in July that Disney was pleased with the judge’s ruling, which “confirms the property appraiser’s methodology was inappropriate and unconstitutional.”
