Harmony, Boone return to Super 16

Victories last week for Harmony and Boone improved each team to 3-1 and the programs punched their tickets for a return trip to the Sentinel Super 16 football rankings.

Harmony senior Nathan Herstich threw three passes for touchdowns and rushed for another score Friday to help the Longhorns return to the Sentinel Super 16 football rankings with their third straight win.

Harmony (3-1), which opened the season at No. 15 before losing to Space Coast (3-1) in its opener, moved back to that spot after defeating Liberty 29-20. A key Class 7A, District 5 matchup awaits the Longhorns Friday when they play at East River (3-1) at 7 p.m.

Boone comes in at No. 16 following a 55-14 win over Orlando University. Zak Thomas returned a kickoff 85 yards for a score and Kenyon Baron rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown for the Braves.

Deltona and Lake Brantley dropped from the rankings following losses to New Smyrna Beach and Lake Mary, respective­ly.

Lake Nona and Lake Mary each moved up two spots while Apopka and DeLand switched places to close out the top five.

The Super 16 is made up of teams in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake and southwest Volusia counties. Team record and upcoming opponents are included in rankings. Mustangs were off last week. Friday vs. Olympia (1-3).

Malachi Wilson intercepte­d a pass and Najah Sylvester finished with a sack and seven tackles in 31-0 win vs. Winter Haven (3-1).

Brendon Lightsey made Wildcat debut by rushing five times for 78 yards and two touchdowns in 52-0 win vs. Colonial (0-3).

Andre Johnson returned a blocked punt for a touchdown in 42-0 win vs. Orange City University (1-3).
