Readers react to Kavanaugh, Ford

-

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Alumnius.” Thirteen of his Georgetown Prep classmates also made references to her. There’s a picture of nine football players including Kavanaugh labeled “Renate Alumni.” Another student’s entry includes a poem: “You need a date, and it’s getting late, so don’t hesitate, to call Renate.”

Two of Kavanaugh’s classmates told The New York Times that the references were a form of bragging about sexual “conquest.”

Renate Schroeder Dolphin is a high school acquaintance of Kavanaugh’s who attended a Catholic girl’s high school in the area. She was one of 65 women who signed a letter earlier this month attesting that Kavanaugh “behaved honorably and treated women with respect” during his high school years. But two weeks ago when Dolphin learned about the yearbook references, she was so upset she withdrew her endorsement.

Dolphin told the Times, “I don’t know what ‘Renate Alumnus’ actually means. I can’t begin to comprehend what goes through the minds of 17-year-old boys who write such things, but the insinuation is horrible, hurtful and simply untrue. I pray their daughters are never treated this way.”

The thing speaks for itself. The highschool posts were a cruel inside joke.

Kavanaugh testified Thursday that he has always held Dolphin in high regard. Dolphin doesn’t believe it. Neither do I.

And if he lied about one thing, he lied about everything.
