Come Out With Pride: Orlando’s week of events

Are you ready for a full week of Come Out With Pride Orlando?

It’s here. The Drag Race 5K will be run 5 to 8 p.m. Monday (today) in Baldwin Park. Drag personalit­ies and hundreds of runners will take part.

The Most Colorful Parade will be 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday in downtown Orlando. Carson Kressley will be the talent grand marshal, and activist Nancy Rosado will be the community grand marshal.

The rally at Lake Eola Park follows at 6:15 p.m. with entertainm­ent at 7. The night concludes with a fireworks show.

Pop star Betty Who will headline at the new Pride Stage. Her hits include “Somebody Loves You,” “I Love You Always Forever,” “Human Touch” and “All Things,” the remixed theme song for Netflix’s “Queer Eye.”

Crystal Waters will be the headliner at Walt Disney Amphitheat­er. Her hits include “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)” and “100 Percent Pure Love.”

The Pride Marketplac­e will be open noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and will stretch along Robinson Street adjacent to the park. Details at comeoutwit­hpride.com.

Other events the week: through

The Portuguese film “MAR” will screen at The Venue Orlando, 741 W. Church St. The event runs 5 to 10 p.m., and director William Vitoria takes questions after the screening.

The Edge, a popular dance club, makes a one-night comeback at Ace Café, 100 W. Livingston St., Orlando. The free event runs 7 to 11:30 p.m.

Scheduled to perform is Jose Xtravaganz­a, dancer, choreograp­her and famed figure from the New York ballroom scene of the 1980s. Xtravaganz­a worked with Madonna on her “Vogue” video and Blond Ambition tour.

The Pride Weekend Launch Party unfolds at The Veranda at 707 E. Washington St. in Orlando. Frenchie Davis, who competed on “American Idol” and “The Voice,” will perform. She is a wellknown LGBTQ activist.

The free event runs 6 to 11:30 p.m. (A VIP ticket starts at $40.) Gidget Galor hosts, DJ Joanie offers a special performanc­e, and top LGBTQ+ performers take part. The event is a partnershi­p with Thornton Park District’s Wine & Art Walk.

The Pride Block Party will be presented by Stonewall Bar Orlando, 741 W. Church St. Luciana makes an appearance at the event, which runs 7 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. There’s a $2 cover charge.

The Big Gay Brunch will be noon to 3 p.m. at The Abbey, 100 S. Eola Dr. #100, Orlando. The brunch is presented by Orlando Immunology Center.

Pride Recovery Brunch, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Celine Orlando, 2604, 22 S. Magnolia Ave.
