“The Great American Read” reveals viewers’ choice as the country’s best-loved book next week. The series finale airs at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, on PBS.

But Central Florida fans can gather for a party Sunday, Oct. 21, to prepare for that finale.

The event unfolds from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Orlando Public Library, 101 E. Central Blvd., in downtown Orlando.

WUCF TV, Orlando’s PBS station, invites those attending to dress up as their favorite literary characters and compete in literary trivia contests to win prizes.

The party is free, but you need to register at wucf.org/events.

“The Great American Read” last week revealed a Top 10 made up of “Charlotte’s Web,” “Chronicles of Narnia,” “Gone With the Wind,” “Harry Potter” series, “Jane Eyre,” “Little Women,” “Lord of the Rings” series, “Outlander” series, “Pride and Prejudice” and “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

That Top 10 could have changed because voting is open until Thursday, Oct. 18, at 11:59 p.m. PT.

You can vote at pbs.org/greatamericanread.

There will be no update to the Top 10 on this week’s show at 8 p.m. Tuesday (today). Any changes to the Top 10 will be discussed in the finale.

But in that announced Top 10, “To Kill a Mockingbird” would seem to have the edge. It helps to inspire a beloved Hollywood movie starring Gregory Peck in his Oscar-winning performance. Expect to see a lot of Atticus Finches at the Orlando party.
