Playoff hopes for Lake Mary and Seminole now rest on their positions in the FHSAA playoff power rankings, which could be a long shot. Bishop Moore celebrates big: No. 12 Bishop Moore dominated its homecoming game, scoring an impressive 42-13 win over a Port St. Lucie Centennial team that arrived with a 6-1 record.

The victory boosts Bishop Moore’s FHSAA playoff power total and its chances of returning to the region playoffs for the 11th year in a row.

The special teams were very special as the Hornets forced Centennial punter Rylee Medlin to throw an incomplete pass under heavy pressure. Later, kicker Jackson Baltar delivered a textbook onside kick. Then, Dylan Brazil sent the crowd into a frenzy with a 91-yard kickoff return that gave his team a 42-7 advantage just before halftime.

No. 1 Edgewater win easily: Super Sentinel 16 No. 1 Edgewater honored 20-plus seniors prior to the game then didn’t miss a beat in a 49-3 blowout win over visiting East Ridge (2-6, 2-3).

League leader Apopka (6-2, 2-0), which owns a win over West Orange, plays at area No. 2 Wekiva (7-1, 1-1) on Friday next week. A Wekiva win would force a three-way logjam and the tiebreaker for the automatic playoff berth would be the FHSAA power rankings system.

Wekiva cruised to a 41-0 non-district win over visiting Orlando University (1-7) on Friday night. Terrance Moore set the tone in that game, taking the opening kickoff back 70 yards for a Mustangs’ touchdown.
