Museum Store Sunday: Gift shopping at the gift shops

- By Anne Dunlap

There are a lot of “special” shopping days after Thanksgiving. Black Friday. Small Business Saturday. Cyber Monday. Make room for one more: Museum Store Sunday, which encourages folks to support their favorite cultural institutions.

This year the event falls on Nov. 25. More than 800 shops around the world will participate including several in Central Florida.

In Winter Park, the Morse Museum store will offer 25 percent off purchases over $25, excluding sale merchandise. Shoppers can enter drawings for gifts, meet local artists and take home a free art kit (while supplies last). From 1-2 p.m. Israeli chef and restaurateur Michael Solomonov will sign copies of “Israeli Soul: Easy, Essential, Delicious,” his latest cookbook with Steven Cook. The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art is at 445 N. Park Ave. in Winter Park. The store will be open 1-4 p.m. More information at morsemuseum.org/ or call 407-645-5311.

Over in Mount Dora, the Modernism Museum Shoppe will offer a 15 percent discount, excluding books and sale items. The store is at 144 E. Fourth Ave., and will be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. For more details go to modernismmuseum.org/shop or call 352-385-0024.

Also taking part is Wycliffe Village Shop, part of the Wycliffe Discovery Center that explores the history and science of the Bible.

The center is at 11221 John Wycliffe Blvd. in Orlando, and can be reached at 407-852-3625. It is closed on Sundays, but customers can go to Shop.Wycliffe.Org and enter code MSS25 to receive their discount. The sale will be valid 12 a.m. to 11:30 p.m on Nov. 25.
